Dr. Tom Peat is a Principal Associate at Hawkins & Associates, specialising in forensic investigations, root cause analysis, and the provision of expert witness services to the insurance, legal, risk management, and commercial sectors.

Since joining Hawkins in 2017, Dr Peat has investigated more than 500 marine and land-based incidents involving fires, explosions, fluid escapes, and engineering failures. He has led investigations ranging from small domestic claims to complex, multi-million-pound losses across the UK and internationally. His experience includes the preparation of expert reports for both Pursuers and Defenders, and he has provided expert evidence in the Sheriff Court.

Recently relocated to Hawkins’ international office in Abu Dhabi, Dr Peat continues to support clients across the Middle East and beyond. He is a Chartered Mechanical Engineer and a Member of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE)’.
