Shadi Kousa is a Senior Associate in Clyde & Co’s Dubai office, specialising in marine and insurance matters. He has over a decade of experience spanning claims, underwriting, and legal practice, combining technical insurance expertise with cross-jurisdictional legal skills.

Shadi holds a Bachelor’s degree in Law and a Master’s degree in Maritime Law from Erasmus University Rotterdam, Netherlands. Before joining Clyde & Co in 2022, he worked as a Senior Marine Underwriter at CNA Canada, managing part of the marine cargo portfolio for Eastern Canada. He also held roles with the Ship-source Oil Pollution Fund in Canada, handling complex pollution liability claims, and practised law in Syria, representing major insurers in coverage and liability disputes.

Shadi’s practice focuses on cargo insurance, coverage and disputes, with additional experience in hull & machinery, marine liabilities, and subrogated recoveries.

He is fluent in English, Arabic, and French, and has worked with leading insurers and reinsurers in the Middle East, Europe, and North America.
