Puneet Sareen

Puneet Sareen
  • Master Mariner & Solicitor
  • Company: Hill Dickinson

A proud ex-seafarer, Puneet is a solicitor in the marine team at Hill Dickinson LLP. His role involves assisting clients in a wide variety of contentious issues across the maritime legal sector – specialising in wet and admiralty matters.

Puneet worked at sea for 15 years, working across a variety of tankers on global trade in all major shipping lanes. After hanging his seaboots, he pursued an LLM in International Maritime Law from Swansea University which assisted him in his transition to shore life.

Prior joining Hill Dickinson, he worked as a Claims Executive at an IG P&I Club and further at an international shipping law firm as an in-house tanker consultant/case handler. He further cleared his SQE exams and qualified as a solicitor in his last role.

Being an ex-seafarer, he adds substantial technical value in his advice to clients, and has been involved in dealing with complex and ‘live’ casualties. By virtue of his extensive experience on all types of tanker vessels, his technical skills are particularly useful in complex tanker incidents and disputes.

He has actively handled matters in multitude of claims varying from collision liabilities, salvage and wreck removal operations, cargo contamination and shortage claims, safe port claims, general average incidents, pollution incidents; as well as demurrage, bunker claims, underperformance and a variety of charterparty disputes.

Puneet obtained his unlimited Master Mariner licence from the Maritime and Coastguard Agency, UK in 2016. He acquired an LLM in International Maritime Law (Distinction) from Swansea University in 2020. Further, he was admitted to the Senior Courts of England and Wales as a Solicitor in 2024.
