Mike formed B Americas P&I in March 2020 to serve as Britannia’s exclusive correspondent for the Americas. As head of B Americas, Mike assists Britannia members worldwide in a large variety of matters involving the U.S., Canada, Central and South America including marine casualty handling, environmental claims, cargo damage, personal injury and interaction with government agencies including USCG, CBP, etc.
Prior to joining Britannia, Mike was a partner in the leading New York maritime firm Freehill Hogan & Mahar where he practiced for nearly 20 years handling a number of significant casualty matters, litigating various cargo/property damage claims, and appearing in numerous arbitrations involving an array of defence claims. Mike is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the U.S., the Second and Third Circuits, and district courts in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut where he is also admitted and has practiced in state court. Mike is a proctor member of the U.S. Maritime Law Association and Connecticut Maritime Association.
