Lia is a Greek-qualified lawyer and holds an LLM in Maritime Law from City University, London. She began her career in private practice, gaining valuable legal experience before moving to Travelers Syndicate 5000 at Lloyd’s of London in 2016. There, she built a strong foundation in marine insurance, handling a broad range of complex claims across multiple international jurisdictions—including Hull & Machinery, Ports and Terminals, Marine Liabilities, Yachts, and P&I.

In 2021, Lia transitioned to Northern Lloyd, a Lloyd’s broker, where she broadened her expertise by focusing on the placement of marine risks in both the London and wider European markets.

Since 2022, Lia has been serving as Marine Director at City Marine Insurance Brokers, where she plays a pivotal role in managing and advising on high-value and complex marine insurance claims. She is also responsible for overseeing the placement and servicing of a wide range of marine risks, maintaining strong relationships with global insurers and clients, and developing tailored insurance solutions for shipowners, charterers, and other maritime stakeholders. Her leadership has been instrumental in strengthening the company’s presence in the marine insurance market, and she continues to play a key role in driving strategic growth, mentoring team members, and ensuring high-quality service delivery across the department.
