Mohamed is a Partner in Hadef & Partners’ Dispute Resolution department and has over 20 years of litigation and dispute resolution experience in the Middle East. He has particular experience in shipping, marine insurance and transport disputes, advising shipowners, charterers, P&I Clubs, insurers, cargo interests and other maritime stakeholders in complex contentious matters. His experience includes marine casualty and cargo claims, P&I and marine insurance disputes, vessel arrest and security, recovery and enforcement proceedings, jurisdictional disputes and arbitration-related court proceedings. He regularly handles cross-border matters involving the coordination of UAE proceedings with arbitration or litigation in other jurisdictions. Mohamed also advises and represents clients in complex commercial, banking, aviation and financial crime disputes before the UAE Courts at all levels and in arbitration proceedings.

Prior to joining Hadef & Partners, Mohamed worked for major international law firms in Dubai and prominent law firms in Kuwait, Egypt and Australia.

Mohamed earned a Bachelor of Law from Alexandria University in Egypt and a Master of Legal Practice from Western Sydney University in Australia. He also earned a Master of International Trade and Commerce Law from Macquarie University in Australia.

Mohamed is admitted as a solicitor and barrister before the Supreme Court of New South Wales in Australia. He is also admitted before the High Court of Australia and the High Court of New Zealand and before the Court of Appeal in Egypt. He is a member of the Law Society of New South Wales in Australia and the Egyptian Bar Association.

Representative Maritime and Marine Insurance Matters

• Represented P&I Clubs in a dispute concerning a compensation claim of approximately KWD 3.5 million arising from damage to a shipment of oil pipes.
• Represented shipowning interests in defending a multi-million-dollar cargo contamination claim brought by a marine insurer, involving issues concerning carrier identity, arbitration, jurisdiction and statutory time bars.
• Acted for an international bunker supplier in vessel arrest proceedings before the Dubai Courts concerning a claim exceeding AED 3.4 million.
• Acted for a UAE bunker supplier in vessel arrest and substantive proceedings before the Khor Fakkan Court concerning unpaid invoices of approximately AED 2.8 million.
• Represented a foreign shipowner in defending vessel arrest and substantive proceedings before the Fujairah Courts.
• Acted in connection with the arrest of multiple vessels in proceedings arising from a vessel ownership dispute involving claims exceeding AED 150 million.
• Handled claims arising from unpaid hire, fuel charges, demobilisation costs and other amounts due under charterparty and vessel operation arrangements.
• Advised and acted in cross-border maritime disputes involving vessel arrest, security and the interaction between UAE court proceedings and arbitration
