Mohamed is a bilingual (Arabic and English) partner based in Stephenson Harwood’s Dubai office and leads the firm’s shipping and insurance practices across the Middle East.
Qualifying in Egypt in 2004 and relocating to Dubai in 2011, Mohamed specialises in dispute resolution with a focus on marine and transport insurance. His expertise spans litigation and advisory work, making him a trusted adviser to clients in complex insurance disputes and regulatory matters across the region.
Mohamed acts for a wide range of clients, including P&I clubs, hull and machinery underwriters, cargo insurers, liability insurers, reinsurers, shipowners, charterers, ports and terminals, and energy companies. He regularly represents insurers and insureds in contentious matters before courts throughout the UAE, Egypt, Qatar, Bahrain and Kuwait, covering a broad spectrum of civil, commercial and criminal proceedings.
He has significant experience handling marine insurance claims, including matters arising from collisions, allisions, salvage, fire, groundings, oil pollution, cargo loss, general average, and ship abandonment. He also supports clients on coverage disputes, subrogation claims, fraudulent claims, and policy wording interpretation, particularly in relation to hull and machinery, P&I, cargo, war risks, and marine liability insurance policies.
